BTW, before having the option to go to NG, I had a chance to work with a local startup in brooklyn.. I was really on the fence and I was honest to the employer about it. and he was honest with me.

" I want to hire you not because I think you could make great looking games, but because I have a feeling your games could make me money. I don't care about making deep profound games, I want to make money."

That's when I made my decision

There's a gigantic grey area between people who wanna make money and people who wanna make something worthwhile. The guys bringing in a million dollars a month usually think they ARE making the best game possible, and also vice-versa.
As much as us guys have jaded stereotype-vision at FGS, they have exactly the same thing looking at newgrounds, and we're kind of all off the mark. Navigating what people think, and what they mean, and what they wanna do has been a REALLY FRUSTRATING minefield, so I wish more people would be that straightforward like that either way.

I mean I'm not interested in making "deep, profound games" either. If it came down to making Braid or Super Mario Kart, it's pretty clear which side I'm on right now.
...anyway my main point is that people aren't usually pure good or evil, and the hard part is trying to parse what each individual person's intentions are.

both braid and super mario kart are worthwhile games, not every game designed to make money are good, or worthwile. The real problem is people are stupid, and they throw money at games that don't deserve them. Otherwise there wouldnt be parasites out there with this mentality in the first place.

Thanks for saying all that stuff.
