also for your crazy variety/artist collab idea - why not have them submit designs/backstory and then just have one person animate them? you'd get all the insane characters but with a consistent style too.

I tried it and it is very smooth. With some fun and original characters it could become one of the best flash fighting games ever. Maybe you can collaborate with NG admins and make it have a score system, maybe even multiplayer.
