I'm sure he doesn't mind the dizziness

how does e know where he's goin then?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!

No game!?

STILL. STILL NO GAME.

Well I always liked your games, you're style, the fact that you're self sufficient and that you can work on a game for so long and actually get it done.

I like to think we're/you're not one of those people who are talking to nobody because you've got plenty of people who like the stuff you do and you do original work. Hell, robot dinosaurs almost made it onto the iPhone. You don't need to advertise Newgrounds in your personal life though, and you don't need to make it such a huge chunk of your life.

I guess what I'm saying is that if you don't enjoy working on games anymore, don't work on them. I'm not saying sell this game short by releasing it early, get it done, get it out, collect the profits, and if you don't want to, don't make a game of this girth again. Go to Uni and get a degree in something, and if you have the time to do Flash, do it. But don't kill yourself over making Flash games, especially if it's not something you plan on doing for a while. The point at which you stop having fun doing a hobby is when you shouldn't be doing it anymore to me.

I'm only saying you should go to Uni because it seems like what you want to do. If you feel like everyone else is going somewhere and you're not, then do something with your time. Go "grow up" if you need to. Make a business doing flash games or get a job.

But don't lock yourself into doing something you don't want. You may be the only dumbass who writes posts like this but I'm pretty sure a lot of people felt the same at some point in time.

Man, I'd like to say something reassuring, because I've known the feeling of getting things all swirling around in your head and by the time you've convinced yourself of something, you're pretty certain of something else, and everything seems pretty hopeless but you can't let yourself treat it as hopeless because then you're just giving up. But I can't really say anything that would really be reassuring, because your situation sucks; there's no way around that.

Trying to think about a five-year plan right now is going to crush you. You've got no real options that you can rely on long term. At a certain point you've got to just set "right now" goals, that kinda-theoretically move you in the right "direction." Like you're doing right now; finishing the game* isn't going to really, tangibly make you better off. But it's the sort of thing you should be doing. Because you want to make games, right? Like, in a more respectable and real capacity than Newgrounds. But this is the only way to do that, from where you are: just do what you fucking can. If you can't plan for the long-term, just keep planning for the short term, and something WILL happen. A year is a long-ass time, and by the time one or two of them has gone by, things WILL have changed somehow. If you're on the lookout for opportunities (and I'm talking like a fortune cookie now but OH WELL) then that's about the best you can do, and that's the only thing that's going to help. I just fucking dropped out of college, almost gave up, but somehow here I am back at school a few months later.

Just try to make yourself into the person you want to be, then you'll get confidence, and if you're confident other things work better. And I'm just talking out of my ass and applying my own thoughts on my own life to your life which I really know nothing about, so make of it what you do. Here's hoping at least one of us gets a girlfriend sometime.

(*which still, by the way, seems promising, despite the shithole you're in now. It's incredibly fucking impressive that you're doing this all by yourself.)

Step 1: Drop the game.
Step 2: Go to uni. Suck up to the teachers. Ignore the idiots. Do well.
Step 3: After you've got a handle on school, get a part time job.
Step 4: Use part time job to buy a better comp.
Step 5: Release Johnny.
Step 6: Make more financially efficient game in order to get a little pocket change.
Step 7: Get a job.
Step 8: Move somewhere were you can get a job doing something you love, whether that's making games or doing something entirely different.

this is the worst plan ever; it takes about 4 years before I actually do anything.

"it takes about 4 years before I actually do anything."

Tom, you're 18. You can more than afford to spend 4 years getting a uni degree, which will make it LEGUES easier to get any worthwhile job, anywhere. If you don't accept any plan that doesn't have you living a full 30-year-old's life by the time you're 20, I don't think there's much help for you.

If you want a plan that's going to get you where you want to be in the next ten years, you're not going to find a better course of action than what what JackTheflipper proposed.

People who are "renting flats and getting engaged" at eighteen years old are, more often than not, making a mistake.

And sorry for butting in, but hey, you did offer your problems to the internet.
